Brutal assault on newlywed wife: Accused Rahul left Kerala, say police

KOZHIKODE: The police have intensified the investigation to find Rahul P Gopal who brutally tortured his newlywed bride in Pantheeramkavu. An investigation is underway focusing on the office in Karnataka and its premises. It was found that Rahul's phone was switched off in Karnataka. The police reached Rahul's house on Thursday morning and collected the CCTV footage. The police believe that Rahul has left Kerala. The officials are closely monitoring people, including Rahul's friends, who are believed to have helped the accused leave the state.

Rahul was there at the house on the day when the Pantheeramkavu police registered a case of domestic abuse against him. He went into hiding after learning that he would be booked for attempted murder. It was found that Rahul's phone was once switched on in Karnataka. The phone is currently switched off. Rahul escaped from his house while trying to get an anticipatory bail. Meanwhile, the investigating police team led by Feroke ACP Saju P Abraham reached the house of the complainant in North Paravur and recorded her statement.

At the same time, Rahul's mother has confirmed that her son had married another woman earlier. She admitted that Rahul had registered the marriage with a girl in Erattupetta. However, she remains firm in her stand that Rahul did not tie mangalsutra around the neck of this girl.

"We got the marriage registered before the actual ceremony so that Rahul could take his wife to Germany immediately after the marriage. However, the girl withdrew from the marriage one month ahead of the fixed date of the marriage ceremony. The girl in Paravur came forward to marry Rahul after learning about this," Rahul's mother said.
