Vijay personally called me, I said yes immediately: Mohanlal opens up about Thalapathy


Mohanlal opens up about the acting in the movie Jilla which also starred Vijay in the lead role. The revelations were made in an interview with a private channel on the occasion of the actor's birthday celebrations. Mohanlal said that Vijay had personally called him to offer the role in Jilla and that he had immediately said yes to the offer.

“Vijay called me personally and then asked if I would be willing to do a role. I immediately agreed. I see it as a blessing that him and the makers found me as the right fit for the role,” said Mohanlal.

Jilla which was released in 2014 had Mohanlal playing the role of Vijay’s father. The movie made on a budget of Rs 50 crore was directed by R.T. Neason. Mohanlal played the character of Shivan. Kajal Aggarwal, Sampath Raj, Nivetha Thomas and Soori all played prominent roles in the movie.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal on his birthday shared the look of his character, Khureshi-Ab’raam, in his new film Empuraan on his social media pages. Crew members of the film had already informed that an update for the film will be given on Mohanlal’s birthday. He is seen walking with many bodyguards wielding guns in the poster.

Empuraan will be released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. It is directed by actor and producer Prithviraj Sukumaran. The movie has a lot of hype as the first part of the movie Lucifer which was released in 2019 had broken all box office records.

The movie is co-produced by Aashirvad Cinemas and one of Tamil Nadu’s biggest production companies Lyca Productions. The script is written by actor Murali Gopy. The cinematography is taken care of Sujith Vaassudev. The movie also had the biggest location hunt out of any South-Indian movies. It is also going to be the most expensive movie made in Malayalam film industry. The shoot is currently going on in Thiruvananthapuram.

Reports suggest that the movie will surpass the budget of Rs 150 crores. After the shooting finishes in Thiruvananthapuram, shooting will also happen in Kochi and Gujarat. Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith, Baiju Santhosh, Saniya Iyappan, Sai Kumar will reprise their roles from Lucifer in this movie. Suraj Venjaramoodu and Shine Tom Chacko will be portraying new characters as well. Empuraan is one of the most awaited movies that are to be released from the Malayalam film industry.
