Even three decades after the movie's release, the name Shobana brings to mind the picture of dancer mystic ‘Nagavali’ from the epic Malayalam movie Manichitrathazhu. The movie which was soon etched into the annals of Indian cinema fetched Shobana a prized national award in 1994. Reminiscing about the incident, Shobana said she learned about the award during a train journey. This was taken from Shobhana's interview with Vidya Subramaniam years ago.

“The train was shuttling through a scenic village and later stopped at a station. Surprisingly, some media workers barged inside and asked for my response for the national award. I was stunned. Later I thought, it took some late for the award to fall into my hands.” Said Shobana.

Although acting alongside all the prominent superstars in the southern industry, Shobana named Mammootty and Mohanlal to have influenced her the most. She termed the Mollywood superstars as the best Indian cinema has ever produced.
