Actress and model Kani Kusruti has expressed solidarity with Palestine while taking part in the Cannes Film Festival. The actress was seen carrying a bag which replicated a watermelon while participating in the screening of her film 'All We Imagine As Light' in the competition category at the film festival. The film also starred actress Diya Prabha. Divya Prabha and actor Hridhu Haroon also shared the stage and spotlight with Kani. Payal Kapadia is the director of the film.
'All We Imagine As Light', which received excellent critical acclaim, is the first Indian movie to be a part of the prestigious competition after 30 years. The film's cast and crew received an 8-minute standing ovation after the screening of the film.
The photos and videos from the venue of the film festival showed Kani carrying a bad which replicated a cut piece of watermelon. The colours of the watermelon and the Palestine flags are green and red. They are the global symbols of solidarity with Palestine. Divya Prabha, Kani Kusruti, Hridu Haroon, Chhaya Kadam, Ranabir Das, Julien Graff, Zico Maitra and Thomas Hakim were all present on the Cannes red carpet.
Actress Sheetal Shyam posted a picture of the film's cast and crew on Facebook with the caption, 'Malayali girls at Cannes stage. May the worry of Malayalee girls and women not getting featured in the movies be over'.
'All We Imagine As Light' is an Indo-French joint venture. Payal Kapadia, the director of the film, became the first Indian female director to screen a film in the competition category.
