Stabbed with knife used to cut meat; Court acquits man previously sentenced for attempting to kill wife

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The sub court acquitted the accused in the case of attempting to kill his wife. The Additional District Judge acquitted the accused, who had been sentenced to seven years by the Neyyattinkara Sub Court. The incident in question took place 12 years ago.

The case was that Jafar, a butcher, attacked his wife with the knife he used for work, intending to kill her. She had been cut and stabbed in the chest and abdomen. His wife was seriously injured in Jafar's attack.

She was rushed to the hospital by relatives and neighbors who heard her screams. After treatment, her life was saved. The wife filed a complaint and the case came before the court.

In the subsequent trial, the Neyyattinkara Sub Court sentenced the accused to seven years imprisonment in 2023. The district court ordered on 22/05/2023 acquitting the accused in an appeal filed against this verdict. Prominent criminal lawyer Afzal Khan appeared for the accused.
