Even at the age of 72, Mammootty, fondly called Mammukka, is Malayali's pride. He has appeared in more than 400 films and has won many awards including national awards and still manages to surprise moviegoers and fans. In a career spanning over five decades, Mammookka's title 'Megastar' is more than enough to recognize the darling of the masses.

Mammootty says that he got such an epithet in 1987. But according to him, he got megastar title not from Kerala or other parts of India. He revealed this in an interview with social media influencer Khalid Al Ameri for the promotion of the movie Turbo

"When I came to an event in Dubai in 1987, a local media called me megastar. Dubai is my second home. When I arrived here, a media said that Megastar Mammootty is coming to Dubai soil. After that, everyone started calling me that," Mammootty said.

At the same time, Mammootty also said that he is not interested in the title 'megastar'. Instead, he preferred to be lovingly called Mammukka, which makes him happy.
