But this time Rahul Gandhi has regained the lost pride in North India by winning in Rae Bareli by 1,61,266 votes. Smriti contested against Rahul in 2014 and lost by 1,07903 votes. But being a member of the Rajya Sabha, she became the Human Resource Minister in the Modi government. With the surprise victory in 2019, she became the Minister of Women and Child Welfare at the age of 43 in the second Modi government.

Then she implemented central schemes by Modi government in her constituency. At this time, there was widespread propaganda in the constituency that the BJP had changed the backwardness of the constituency. Rahul's candidacy in two constituencies was also said to be out of fear and that he came to Wayanad in South India in search of a safe constituency. Despite this massive campaign, this time in Amethi, the people handed the victory to Kishori Lal Sharma, a loyalist of the Congress and the Nehru family. He gathered 1,39,450 votes more than the incumbent Smriti Irani.

When there was a general wave of pro-INDIA bloc in Uttar Pradesh, Amethi stood with it. Kishori Lal Sharma also thanked those who stood by him in victory or defeat and congratulated those who won. Smriti has said that she will continue to work for Amethi.
