'I want to win a state award, want to marry a good person'; Suresh Gopi's very first interview

Superstar Suresh Gopi has created history by becoming the first BJP candidate to win a Lok Sabha election in Kerala. Meanwhile, the very first interview of the actor-turned-politician is now going viral on social media. The video was shot in 1989 while the actor was in the early stages of his acting career. It was renowned actress Parvathy who interviewed Suresh Gopi.

When asked if he had ever thought that he would become a busy actor, Suresh Gopi said that he had no idea that cinema would become his profession.

"I entered films through director Fazil. I got a small role in the film 'Niraparaadhi' produced by renowned producer Balaji. That was during the period when I reached Madras for Civil Service coaching. Later, I acted in Navodaya's 'Onnu Muthal Poojyam Vare'. From there, I reached 'Rajavinte Makan'," Suresh Gopi said.

Suresh Gopi appeared irked when Parvathy asked him why some people were saying that he used to flatter people very much.

"People saying so have a problem with my current position. One cannot reach this position by flattering others. Flattering won't help one to become a good actor," he said.
