NEW DELHI: Minister of State Suresh Gopi said the possibility of crude oil in the deep sea in Kollam will be utilized. In an interview given to a national media, the minister spoke about the possibility of Kollam in fuel exploration.

‘I did not expect to get petroleum ministry. I have to think deeply about what the Prime Minister expects from me in connection with the department. We need to know what is the present level of petroleum sector in the country. Only then can my participation be made possible. Kollam’s possibility in fuel exploration is being heard of. Kollam is also my hometown. Every opportunity related to it will be utilized,’ said Suresh Gopi.

Crude oil in deep sea in 18 blocks
There are indications that 18 blocks with the presence of crude oil have been identified in the deep sea of Kollam. It will be mined after building a huge iron platform in the middle of the sea. Huge pipelines will be passed through this platform to the bottom of the sea. Oil India, a PSU under the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, had also invited tenders for the exploration.

Oil India Limited has taken the contract from the Director General of Hydrocarbons for oil exploration in the Kollam coast. They are giving special contract for various jobs. The earlier agreement was to make a blueprint for the construction of the well.

Availability of fuel is expected from Kanyakumari to Kochi. As a small port, various services are available at low cost, so the Kollam port is possible for exploration.
