Father burned to death for preventing marriage; son arrested

ADIMALI: Son arrested for burning father to death for preventing marriage with the girl he liked. Munnar police arrested Bipin (36) in the case of murdering his father, Mankulam native Thankachan (55). Only Thankachan and his son Bipin lived in the house in the sparsely populated area of ​​33. Bipin's mother had left them years ago.

Bipin had told his father that he likes and wants to marry a woman who is older than him and a widow. However, Thankachan opposed the relationship. On Sunday evening, there was an argument between the two over the same. After the fight, Bipin hit Thankachan on the head with a knife. Thinking that Thankachan was dead, Bipin removed the necklace and ring from Thankachan's body. After this, Thankachan was taken to a nearby shed, doused with diesel and kerosene, piled with plastic and straw and set on fire. The body was then covered with plastic. The person who came to work on the neighbouring farmland came to this house on Monday evening and saw the charred body.

Bipin was arrested from Mankulam by the police team led by Munnar CI Rajan K Aramana while trying to go to Ernakulam with the woman he was in a relationship with. Bipin confessed to the crime during police interrogation. However, the police said that the woman was not involved in the incident. Fingerprint experts also reached the spot and collected scientific evidence. The inquest proceedings were completed and the body was sent for post-mortem.
