THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala University Vice Chancellor Mohanan Kunnummal’s decision to not allow Bollywood actress Sunny Leone’s stage program has created multiple opinions in the state. However, the college union chairman T Ajmal on Thursday opined that the university had already permitted the anniversary programme.

“Their only grouse is Sunny Leone. If the function gets shelved, the union will be liable for lakhs of rupees. We are working to make the event a reality." said Ajmal. The students of the University Engineering College in the Kerala University campus decided to hold the program on July 5. However, on Wednesday, the Vice-Chancellor gave instructions to the registrar to not allow the program.

According to university authorities, the college went ahead with the Sunny Leone show, at a time when the government had already banned DJ parties and music nights inside state campuses. The VC has informed that under no circumstances such programs will be allowed to be organized under the leadership of students on the campus or outside in the name of the union.

Sunny Leone, a former adult actress turned Bollywood star, took the city of Kochi by storm in 2017 when thousands thronged the area, knowing about the actress's visit. The event threw away all the security measures into thin air. The crowd was uncontrollable and the city by some miracle, escaped a stampede tragedy.
