KOCHI: The first budget presentation of Modi 3.0 started inside the chamber of parliament on Tuesday. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman extolled India’s cruising economy claiming inflation was brought under control in the country. The Minister stated that the aim is for inclusive development.

In her speech, the minister vowed to give more attention to employment, middle class, and small and medium sectors in the budget. Kisan Credit Card will be implemented in five more states. During the budget presentation, the Minister said that 80 crore people are enjoying the benefit of Garib Kalyan Yojana.

This is Nirmala Sitharaman's seventh budget presentation since becoming the country's finance minister in 2019. With today’s budget presentation, the Madurai-born union minister will break the record of former finance minister Morarji Desai.

Nirmala Sitharaman, the finance minister in the second Modi government, presented six budgets, including an interim budget. Morarji Desai presented six budgets from 1959 to 1964, including the Interim Budget.

Meanwhile, the southern state of Kerala, now crippled in economic crisis, will eagerly look forward to the budget. The state will hope for some generous act from the central government, to announce a financial package for Kerala to clear the arrears and provide infrastructure for Vizhinjam port. The state is also expecting a special package for building new rail lines and bettering the national highways across the state.
