BENGALURU: Two days after JD(S)-Congress coalition government lost its trust vote, Karnataka assembly speaker KR Ramesh Kumar on Thursday announced the disqualification of three rebels MLAs from KPJP and Congress. Rebel MLAs Ramesh Jarkiholi and Mahesh Kumathalli, and KPJP’s R. Shankar were disqualified. R. Shankar had met the governor and said that he will support BJP unequivocally.

AS per reports, BJP plans for President’s rule in Karnataka till the procedures for disqualifying MLAs are complete. After securing enough strength, the party plans to form a govt, reports say.

The central leadership of the party expect a sparkling win if another election is held in Karnataka. In the event of such a victory, it will be fruitful for Maharashtra Assembly elections as well, the BJP leadership assumes.

The Congress-JD(S) coalition government fell on Tuesday as it lost the trust vote in the Assembly. Following the defeat, Kumaraswamy submitted his resignation to Governor Vajubhai Vala at Raj Bhavan, along with his cabinet ministers.

The defeat marked the end of an uneasy coalition that was formed after the assembly polls on May 23, 2018, which returned a hung verdict after three main parties in the state- Congress, BJP and the JD (S) contested against each other in the polls.
