Sania and Shami to get married? father responds

KOLKATA: Former tennis star Sania Mirza and cricketer Mohammed Shami are two of the most influential athletes in the country. Sania is the highest-ranked Indian female player ever. Shami played a pivotal role in taking the Indian cricket team to the final of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup. Meanwhile, some recent reports are claiming that both Shami and Sania will soon enter into wedlock.

Sania had recently got divorced from her ex-husband and Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik. Similarly, Shami and his wife Haseen Jahan are also living separately. In the meantime, a report claimed that Shami and Sania got married in a secret function. A wedding photo featuring the two also circulated on social media. However, it soon became clear that the photo was fake. Following this, it was rumoured the two are yet to get married and the function will take place on August 20.

Now, Sania's father has come out denying the rumours. Speaking to a national media outlet, Sania's father said that the reports are baseless and that his daughter has not even met Shemi yet.

Sania got married to Shoaib Malik in 2010. The couple has a son. The child is currently living with Sania. According to a report by a Pakistani media outlet, it was Shoaib's extra-marital affairs that led to the end of his marriage with Sania. Following his divorce, Shoaib got married to Pakistani actress Sana Javed.

The issues between Mohammed Shami and his wife Haseen Jahan had paved the way for widespread discussions on social media. The couple got married in 2014 in Kolkata. In 2018, Haseen had lodged a domestic violence complaint against Shami.
