Maestro of Mollywood Adoor Gopalakrishnan celebrates 84th birthday

PATHANAMTHITTA: According to official records, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, a notable figure in Malayalam cinema, is celebrating his 84th birthday today. His official birthday is July 3, 1941, marking the completion of 83 years and entering his 84th year. However, Adoor revealed that his actual birth year is 1939.

"My birthday is over. As I don't celebrate my birthday, I don't care. Today will pass like a normal day. Nothing special," he said in an interview with Kerala Kaumudi. He explained that when he joined school, his age was reduced by two years. "But I got it wrong. I have often had to seek exemption to write exams," he added.

Adoor Gopalakrishnan, the son of Madhavan Unnithan and Gaurikunjamma from the Adoor Mouttath house, released his first film, "Swayamvaram," in 1972. His last feature film, "Pinneyum," was released in 2016. He has received numerous accolades, including international awards, 16 national awards, 17 state awards and has produced several short films and documentaries.

When asked about his next film, Adoor confirmed that he is actively thinking about a new project.
