THRISSUR: Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi clarified that he would only accept inauguration ceremonies as an actor but not as a member of parliament. The Thrissur MP said he would demand money for inauguration events and wouldn’t do it for free. The money received through this will be put to the best use for society. He was speaking after getting a rousing reception from the Guruvayur constituency committee in Engandiyur.

Suresh Gopi:

“I will be doing more movies from now. Five to eight per cent of the salary earned from movies will be kept apart to serve society. I can’t do more because there needs to be the proper filing of all expenditures. And I have decided not to give money to individuals but rather to society as a whole. No more crowdfunding.

And while attending some events, some people might have the feeling to approach me to do some inauguration. I will heartily accept the offer, but only as a movie actor. Don’t think I will do it for free for my status as an MP. I will take proper money like my colleagues in the industry. And I can vow that, the money received from the inauguration will go to my trust. This will be put to the best use for society.

Many will now take this as a weapon to attack me. I care less about these things. I have been elected as a representative from Thrissur and I don’t need anyone’s advice on how to work for the district. I gave word about bringing development to this place and there is no going back on that.”
