Another case of amoebic encephalitis confirmed in Kozhikode, 14-year-old undergoing treatment

KOZHIKODE: A 14-year-old boy, native of Thikkodi in Kozhikode, has been confirmed with amoebic encephalitis. The minor sought treatment within 24 hours of developing symptoms. The doctors informed that the health condition of the child is satisfactory and he is responding to medicines.

In Kerala, three children died of amoebic encephalitis in two months. 13-year-old Mridul, a native of Feroke, succumbed to death last day while undergoing treatment in a private hospital. He contracted the disease after taking a bath in the pond near his house. Towards the end of June, 13-year-old Dakshina from Kannur died due to disease. She died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kozhikode. The girl reportedly took a bath in a pond when she went on a study trip from school to Munnar.
