Kozhikode woman dies of burn after hand sanitiser flares up

KOZHIKODE: A housewife in Kozhikode died of severe burns after trying to burn garbage using sanitiser. The incident happened in Payyoli on Sunday. Nafeesa (48) of Shahs Manzil, Payyoli IPC Road, succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kozhikode.

Nafeesa poured sanitiser to burn the garbage but the fire soon enveloped and left her with severe burn injuries. She was rushed to the hospital but died while undergoing treatment.

Nafeesa leaves behind her husband Kunjahammed and children Muhammad Shahan, Omar Shamil, and Shahnaz.

In a similar incident, two people were charred to death in a car fire accident in Pathanamthitta Thiruvalla yesterday. The incident happened in Thiruvalla Vengal. Thomas George (69) and his wife Laiji Thomas (63), natives of Thukalassery died.

The suicide note of Raju Thomas was found in his house saying that he could not bear the mental torture inflicted upon them by their son.
