NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli's poor form in the T20 World Cup raised concerns among his teammates and fans. Before the final, the player managed to score only 75 runs. In a recent meeting with PM Modi, the star player and former captain of the Indian team discussed the downfall and the concerns that clouded him throughout the tournament.

“At one point, I tried all the tricks in my books but failed to get runs. I then took up an imperious attitude and believed I could easily get runs but still failed. At some point, we should let go of arrogance and pride, which can prove beneficial. I started thinking more about the team and things started to change. It was a big lesson.

I had no confidence during the finals. The team's head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma helped me massively and backed me to perform well. I even confessed to the coach my failure to get runs when needed.

It is impossible to describe what we felt during the finals. Hardik got us the crucial wicket resuscitating us from the deathbed. I am happy to be able to contribute to the team in such a big game after a tough time. I can't forget it," Kohli said.

The Indian team, which won the Twenty20 World Cup, visited Narendra Modi at his residence right after touching the national capital with the trophy. Congratulating the winners, PM Modi had a brief chat with the World Cup winners and it was also this time that Virat opened up.
