HARARE: Team India won by 23 runs in the third T20 match against Zimbabwe here and took a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. Malayali player Sanju Samson was the vice-captain in the match.
Batting first, India posted a score of 182/4 in 20 overs, but the hosts had to settle for 159/6. The fourth match in the series will be held on Saturday.
Skipper Shubman Gill (66), opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (36) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (49), led India to a good score. Yashasvi, who was absent in the first two matches, along with Sanju, following T20 World Cup commitments, opened with Gill yesterday and added 67 runs in eight overs. Abhishek Sharma, who scored a century in the last game, could score only 10 runs.
Washington Sundar, who took three wickets of Zimbabwe for 15 runs, was selected as the man of the match. Avesh Khan got two wickets and Khalil Ahmed got one wicket. Dion Myers, who remained unbeaten with 65 runs, and Madande, who scored 37 runs, led the fightback for Zimbabwe.
