THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Human Rights Commission (HRC) has taken a suo moto case and ordered an inquiry into the forced expulsion of an autistic student from a government school. Acting chairperson and judicial member of the commission K Baiju Nath in the order asked Thiruvananthapuram DEO to submit the investigation report in two weeks.

The incident happened at the Thycaud Govt Model School. The boy was expelled for making noise during a public event. The principal directed his mother to get the Transfer of Certificate (TC). However, his mother sought three months’ time and the principal gave her one week’s time. The principal said that if the boy continues in school, the other children will not come to school.

The boy’s mother said the principal asked her to write in the application that she is getting the TC because of the distance. The boy is from Manacaud. The action was taken in the suo moto case registered based on the news carried by the media.
