THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president K Sudhakaran said that the Vizhinjam port, which will be marked in history as the development face of Kerala, should be named after former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Sudhakaran also accused Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of excluding UDF leaders who worked for the Vizhinjam port from the programs related to the port.
"The Vizhinjam port became a reality only because of the determination of former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. However, the Pinarayi government is deliberately ignoring this. The state government is expressing intolerance by completely ignoring UDF leaders who worked for the Vizhinjam Port from the programs related to the port. It did not even show decency to invite the opposition leader to the ceremony of welcoming the cargo ship at Vizhinjam," Sudhakaran said.
"When the Oommen Chandy government went ahead with the Vizhinjam port project, the LDF and the CPM tried to ruin it by any means possible. Pinarayi Vijayan, who tried to be the executioner of the project then, is trying to take over the paternity of it today," he said.
