NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court rejected the plea seeking the regularization of temporary employees working at Guruvayur Devaswom. The Supreme Court allowed the Devaswom Recruitment Board to proceed with the recruitment process for the existing vacancies.
Existing temporary employees are allowed by the court to participate in the recruitment process. The Supreme Court has also suggested that the upper age limit should be relaxed for those who have been working as temporary employees on the board for a long time. The bench also suggested that the board should consider their work experience. The order came from a bench comprising Justices JK Maheshwari and Rajesh Bindal.
242 temporary employees had approached the Supreme Court demanding that the Court direct the Devaswom to regularize their jobs. Senior Advocate Dama Seshadri Naidu and Advocate ML Jishnu appeared for the Guruvayoor Devaswom Board.
Advocate G Prakash appeared for the Devaswom Recruitment Board. Senior Advocates R Basant, V Giri, V Chidambaresh, SP Chali, Thomas P Joseph, Rakend Basant, Kailas Nath Pillai, Jayant Muthuraj and Advocate Roy Abraham appeared for the temporary employees.
