Two burnt to death as car catches fire in Pathanamthitta, vehicle belongs to native of Thiruvalla

PATHANAMTHITTA: Two people were found dead inside a car in Thiruvalla. The bodies were found charred to death and is beyond recognition. The police had identified that the car belonged to a native of Thukalasseri in Thiruvalla. The incident happened at Vengal in Thiruvalla. The two has been identified as Thomas George (69), the owner of the car and native of Thukalasseri and his wife Laiji Thomas (63).


The incident happened after 1 pm today. The car was found burnt in an isolated place surrounded by paddy fields. The police patrolling team first saw the car catching fire. First thought the dried leaves there had caught fire. On being informed, the fire force reached the spot and doused the flames. By then, all except the car frame was gutted in the fire. The police tried to bring the car owner’s relatives to the spot and identify the dead. The bodies of a woman and a man were found charred in the front seat of the car. The couple’s close relatives said the car is used only by them and they are the ones who have died.

Police said the couple had some financial liabilities. So, they suspect it to be a suicide.
