THRISSUR: Police says that Dhanya, the accused in the case of extorting Rs 20 crore from a financial institution in Valappad, is addicted to online rummy. Income Tax has sought details of online rummy transactions of Rs 2 crore from Dhanya. But no information has been shared.

Dhanya had bought land in Valappad within two years. The police also clarified that she bought a plot of 5 cents in front of the house but did not complete the documentation. Dhanya's husband, who was abroad, had returned home.

Dhanya Mohan, a native of Tirumullavaram Nellimukk, Kollam, is the Assistant General Manager at Manappuram Comptech and Consultants Limited. On the complaint filed by the company, Valappad police has registered a case against her and intensified the investigation.

She has been an employee of the organization for the past 18 years. According to the police, Rs 19.94 crore was extorted from the company's digital personal loan account by making fake loans from May 2020. The fraud was done by transferring money to various accounts of her father and brother. When she realized that she would be caught, she feigned physical difficulties and left the office and absconded with the help of someone.

Dhanya is believed to have bought luxury goods, land and a house. She has been living in a house near the Thiruppazhancherry temple for the past 18 years. The young woman was staying here before she went into hiding.
