NEW DELHI: Two students drowned in the basement of a civil services training centre in West Delhi's Rajendra Nagar on Saturday night. NDRF is checking the spot on the suspicion that more students are trapped.
The basement of the IAS coaching centre was water-logged due to the incessant rains in the area. It is reported that one of the victims is a female student. A search is ongoing as officials fear more students to be trapped in the basement area.
The fire rescue team received a call at 7 pm saying the students were stuck in the basement. Some students were missing the coaching class which evoked suspicion among faculties. The NDRF team has also joined in the rescue operations.
According to police, the basement filled with furniture, flooded very fast in the rains. Some students trapped in the basement failed to find an escape amidst the darkness and the obstruction caused by the furniture.
