THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A passenger who travelled on Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod Vande Bharat got food containing cockroaches. The complaint was filed by a family who was travelling from Chengannur to Ernakulam. Other passengers reportedly had similar experiences.
Food including Idiyappam was given to the passengers. The passenger told a private channel that when he opened the food packets, he found cockroaches in it. After receiving the complaint, the Railways came with an explanation. The explanation was that the cockroaches came from the train, not when the food was wrapped. The catering department says that the cockroaches inside the train got into the food packets from the storage room and it was not a mistake when the food was packed. The railway authorities said that they will investigate the incident and take action.
The incident of finding a cockroach in food in Vande Bharat was reported earlier. Last April, cockroach was found in an egg curry bought along with food from the Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod train. The passenger saw the cockroach when he opened the food packet to eat. The passenger shared the ordeal and said in a Facebook post that the catering staff apologized after the complaint was raised. Incidents of cockroaches being found in food distributed in other states were also reported.
