THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of continued heavy rains in the state, educational institutions in three districts will be shut down on Thursday. District Collectors have announced holidays for all educational institutions including professional colleges in Thrissur, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. However, pre-scheduled exams will remain unchanged.

Meanwhile, the IMD has warned about heavy rains till August 2. The westerly/north-westerly winds will likely remain strong for the next two days. As a result, moderate rainfall with widespread thunder and lightning are likely over Kerala for the next five days, the Meteorological Department said.

IMD has announced an orange alert in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.
