The assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas's political affairs, hints that the ongoing Gaza war will not come to an end any time soon. Moreover, it has raised the suspicion that more countries will participate in the conflict in West Asia.

Israel is determined to continue the war until Hamas is completely wiped out. By launching new attacks every day, Israel is proving that it is not ready to give in to anyone's pressure. The women and children of Palestine are the ones who are suffering the most due to the war. The death toll in the war has crossed nearly 40,000. Only Hamas fighters are there on the battlefield. The heads of various sections of the organization are living in other Islamic countries that are close to them.

These leaders provide necessary instructions, money, weapons, propaganda etc. while remaining in the hideouts. The slain Haniyeh was the diplomatic face of Hamas. He had been living in a secret place in Qatar. Haniyeh arrived in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iran's new president. Iran had provided all kinds of security to Haniyeh. However, Haniyeh was killed in a missile attack on his residence north of Tehran while he was sleeping. Although Israel has not commented on the incident, it is widely believed that the assassination was planned and carried out by the country's intelligence agency, the Mossad. Although Mossad has carried out this kind of target killing before, Israel has not taken responsibility for any of it. Organizations of extreme fundamentalist nature generally carry out attacks and murders and take responsibility for them. This will give them more funding and help them become a threat to their opponents through terrorism.

Haniyeh's assassination took place just a few hours after Fouad Shuk, the top commander of the Hezbollah group, was killed in Lebanon in an Israeli drone strike. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken responded that the US had no role or knowledge about the killing of Haniyeh. Qatar said the killing of Haniyeh was a violation of international humanitarian law and would further intensify the Gaza war and derail peace efforts. Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei said that Israel would be punished severely in return for this assassination. Turkey and Syria have warned that the war in Gaza will spread to more countries in the West if the international community does not take steps to force Israel to refrain from the attacks. Hezbollah, Houthi rebels and the Taliban have all condemned Haniyeh's murder. Iran is the one that suffered the biggest shock from this incident. This incident has forced Iran to realize that not only its president and prime minister but also important guests from foreign countries are not safe within its territory. We cannot predict what consequences this incident will have in the near future. If the war goes on, not only the peace but also the economic systems of the region may collapse. Hence, the common men of all the concerned countries would want the war to come to an end as soon as possible. However, the world is watching with anxiety if unexpected developments like Haniyeh's assassination could take the war to a new level.
