NEW DELHI: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has confirmed that Bangladesh's former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who sought asylum in India after the country's agitation, has not gone abroad. Jaishankar informed that Hasina has not left India and has been given time to decide on future plans. He stated this after an all-party meeting to review the situation in Bangladesh. He said that he is in communication with the Bangladesh Army.

A news agency had earlier reported that Hasina's plane had left the Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad. The report said that the C-130J aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force left here at nine in the morning. But the news agency ANI states that Hasina was not on this flight. Seven soldiers who had accompanied Hasina to India returned in the C-130J.

An earlier report said that Sheikh Hasina will stay in India until she gets permission to stay in Britain. After resigning, she left the country in a military plane and landed at Ghaziabad Hindon Air Base in UP on her way to London.

S Jaishankar explained the situation in an all-party meeting held to explain the situation in Bangladesh. He briefed the leaders about the situation in Bangladesh and the steps taken by the Indian government. Apart from S Jaishankar, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and others also attended the meeting.
