LONDON: It is reported that a conspiracy had taken place in London and Saudi Arabia with the connivance of Pakistan and China to topple the Sheikh Hasina government and bring the pro-Pakistani Bangladesh National Party (BNP) to power in Bangladesh. Bangladeshi intelligence sources have received information that this conspiracy was behind the anti-reservation agitation that led to the resignation of Sheikh Hasina. The Jamaat-e-Islami also had a major role in the anti-government protests in Bangladesh. The agitation was funded by Chinese agencies operating in Pakistan, the report said.

Bangladeshi intelligence sources said that Khaleda Zia's Bangladesh National Party leaders, Khaleda's son Tariq Rehman and ISI officials had held talks in Saudi Arabia. To incite the agitation, more than 500 posts were circulated against Sheikh Hasina through anti-Bangladesh X accounts. Most of these accounts were from Pakistan. China also made moves through the ISI.

The protest against the reservation thus escalated into a riot in which 300 people were killed. Chhatrashibir, the student wing of the anti-India Jamaat-e-Islami, ignited the agitation. The objective of Jamaat-e-Islami was to turn student agitation into a political movement. Most of the videos circulating against Hasina were created through Khaleda's BNP accounts. It was given technical excellence through US-centric accounts.
