THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Malayali cricketer Sanju V Samson said that he likes to see everything happening in his career in a positive way. The cricketer also responded to the campaign that he is being continuously ignored despite deserving a permanent spot in the Indian cricket team.
"If I get selected to the Indian team, I'll play and if not, I won't play. It's as simple as that. I don't want to think about not getting selected for the team. I'm trying to improve things that are under my control. It is important to see everything very positively. I want to keep trying. I believe that my game is improving," he said.
The cricketer was speaking at the official logo release ceremony of the Kerala Cricket Association's Kerala Cricket League.
"After getting picked for the Indian team, I dreamed of gaining a spot in the World Cup team. It felt like a dream when I was named in the World Cup squad for the 2024 T20I World Cup. After winning the World Cup, I realised that being an Indian cricketer is not a small thing," Sanju said.
Sanju also opened up about getting dismissed for a duck in two straight games against Sri Lanka.
"Things didn't go as well in Sri Lanka as I thought. The support I receive from Kerala and from the Malayalees in various foreign countries is amazing. This is a topic of discussion even in the Indian dressing room, especially when we go abroad and play. My teammates would say, 'Hey Chetta, wherever you go, you are getting immense support.' I am mature enough to understand that people get disappointed whenever I don't get a place in the team and whenever I get dismissed for a duck," he added.
