NEW DELHI: The arrival of Vande Bharat Express has significantly transformed Indian Railways, offering passengers a modern and upgraded travel experience. With nearly 100 of these advanced trains already in operation across India, Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) is now looking to take this success to the international stage.

In an interview with the Economic Times, BEML Chairman Shantanu Roy revealed plans to export Vande Bharat Express coaches abroad. BEML, a prominent Indian public sector enterprise specializing in heavy equipment for railways, transport, and mining, is targeting South America, ASEAN countries, and the Middle East as potential markets. According to Roy, the company intends to begin export operations for Vande Bharat and Metro trains as early as next year.

"Currently, BEML is fully focused on indigenous production. However, we are exploring opportunities to export Vande Bharat trains. We are also working on the first prototype of a sleeper coach for Indian Railways. The company aims to increase our export share from the current 4 percent to 10 percent in the near future," Roy stated.

He also outlined BEML's new growth strategy, highlighting that the company's operations are divided into Defence, Mining, Metro, and Rail sectors. Roy emphasized that BEML has seen significant profit growth in recent years, surpassing previous records.
