KOLKATA: The CBI is trying to find out if the PG trainee doctor, who was raped and murdered in RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, was subjected to gang rape. The CBI team, which took over the case within hours of the Calcutta High Court verdict, intensified its investigation focusing on six critical issues. The parents of the doctor also raised suspicions that their daughter was subjected to gang rape.
The family demanded that the CBI should find out if a person from the Chest Department was involved in the crime. The postmortem report stated that 150 mg of male sperm was recovered from the dead body. The family suspects that more than one person may have been involved as such a large quantity of sperm was found in the body. Dr Subarna Goswami, an office bearer of the All India Federation of Government Doctors Association responded that this is a sign of gang rape. Only 33-year-old civic volunteer Sanjay Roy, who was assigned to help the police at the outpost near the hospital, has been arrested in the case so far.
It is concluded that the woman doctor was brutally raped and murdered between 3 and 5 am on August 9 in the lecture hall of the RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. The post-mortem report says that there were fatal injuries on her body, including the private parts. The thyroid cartilage was broken due to strangling. The victim's head was held against the wall to prevent her from crying. According to the report, blood flowed from her eyes and mouth.
The accused, 33-year-old Sanjay Roy, is a boxer. Although he got married four times, all his wives left him because of his torture. He had access to all areas of the hospital.
