Jumped from moving vehicle, cut his own throat; Malayali youth attempts suicide after consuming drugs in Kodaikanal

KODAIKANAL: A youth, who suffered injuries after jumping from a moving vehicle, attempted suicide by cutting his throat inside the hospital. Malappuram native Naji (24) attempted suicide after consuming drugs in Kodaikanal. The youth cut his throat after breaking a window pane in the hospital. Naji, who sustained serious injuries, has been shifted to the Medical College in Madurai. Naji and his friends reached Kodaikanal for a pleasure trip.

Naji and his friends Maji (19) and Christi (23) reached Kodaikanal on Tuesday. According to the police, the three then went to Kookal and consumed drugs there. On the way back, Naji sustained injuries after jumping from a moving vehicle. He was then admitted to the Kodaikanal Government Hospital for treatment.

While undergoing treatment at the hospital, Naji broke the window pane with his hand and cut his throat with the broken glass. Following this, the youth was rushed to the Madurai Medical College by his friends and hospital employees. The Kodaikanal police have registered a case in the incident and initiated an investigation. The preliminary conclusion of the police is that the youths might have used ganja or magic mushrooms. According to the police, a lot of youngsters from Kerala arrive in Kodaikanal to consume magic mushrooms.
