KOCHI: A Bharat Bandh will be held today under the leadership of various tribal Dalit organizations against the Supreme Court verdict of August 1 and the central government's decision to sabotage the SC ST list and reservation.
The hartal has been called in Kerala today demanding that the Supreme Court's decision to divide the SC and ST list on the basis of caste should not be implemented and all ceiling policies should be repealed, including the Rs 2.5 lakh income limit implemented in the education sector, and a comprehensive caste census should be conducted at the national level. K Mayandi, the chairman of the Palakkad Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Coordination Committee informed that the hartal is being held in Kerala against the backdrop of Bharat Bandh announced by Bhim Army and various Dalit organizations against the verdict. 17 organizations of the Dalit community have called for the hartal. Wayanad district has been exempted from the hartal. The hartal is from 6 am to 6 pm. There will be no disruption to milk, newspaper and medicine sectors.
