KOCHI: The Kerala High Court will consider today the public interest litigation (PIL) plea seeking an investigation on the sexual crimes mentioned in the Justice Hema Committee report. The plea demanded to summon the evidence and direct the DGP to take action. The plea was filed by Paichira Nawaz of Thiruvananthapuram and a public activist. The plea will be considered by Acting Chief Justice A Muhammad Mushtaq and Justice S Manu.

The release of the report has shocked the entire society. The unreleased report is about sexual crimes. This is against the public interest. The plea also demanded that the government be ordered to produce the uncensored Hema Committee report in this situation.

The report of the Justice Hema Committee appointed by the state government to study the problems faced by women in the film industry was released on Monday. 235 pages were released. The Kerala High Court recently ordered that the Justice K Hema Committee report may be released partly. The court upheld the decision of the Right to Information Commission to provide a copy to the applicants by excluding the parts affecting the privacy of the persons who gave the statement and others. The Hema Committee submitted the report directly to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on December 31 in 2019.
