THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary M V Govindan said the resignation of E P Jayarajan from the convenor post was not an organizational action. T P Ramakrishnan will replace him. Jayarajan stepped down for two reasons. One is that he has some limitations. Another reason is some of his statements in connection with the election. He informed that the decision was made after discussing all this. M V Govindan added that things including the Javadekar controversy were also considered.
Meantime, he clarified that the government is implementing the recommendations of the Hema Committee. Legislation and a tribunal are essential. There are opinions against the conclave. He said that he will discuss with everyone and proceed.
Justice Hema demanded not to release the entire report. This is because it contains information that affects privacy. Such a committee is first in India. The government had not delayed the Hema Committee. No one will be protected, he said.
‘Proceedings have been started to form a tribunal. The ICC was first started in Kerala. The police filed a case on eleven complaints that were in the Hema committee and those that were not. The ruling party even filed a case against the MLA. We are seeing the government's approach as a model for the country. We know what steps the central government took when complaints of wrestlers were raised.
The question is whether Mukesh should resign. Campaigns for Mukesh's resignation is going on in many parts of Kerala. We have done a detailed examination on this. In India, 16 MPs and 135 MLAs are accused of crimes against women. Out of which BJP 54, Congress 23, TDP 17 and Aam Aadmi Party 13 have been accused in such cases. None of them have resigned.
There is now a case against two MLAs in Kerala. One of them was in jail. Oommen Chandy, Kunhalikutty, Hibi Eden, Pithambara Kurup etc. have been accused of this but none of them have resigned. There have been cases of ministers resigning from that post.
Kunhalikutty has resigned his ministerial berth. PJ Joseph and others have resigned. If the accused resigns, there is no legal system that takes them back if they are found innocent.
As an MLA, no benefit of any kind is to be given in the investigation of the case. Mukesh was removed from the film policy making committee. The party's stand is that justice should be made available to all. There should be an independent and impartial investigation.
