THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actress Lakshmy Ramakrishnan has openly said that there is a tendency in Malayalam cinema to treat even older women badly. She also revealed to a channel that she had to retake even a simple scene 19 times as she did not yield to the lead director's interest. The actress said that she is speaking in the light of her own experience.
Lakshmy Ramakrishnan said that a director, who is very popular with the audience through his family films, invited her to a hotel in Kochi and because she refused, she was dropped from a film. " You have to stay here with me today, only then will you get that role,' said that director. Then I understood, and I sent a good message back. I lashed out. With that, I lost my role."
The actress also revealed that she had a bad experience on the location of the Malayalam director's Tamil film and said that actresses playing mother roles will get respect in Tamil. Lakshmy also said that something like Hema Committee is possible only in Malayalam.
Lakshmy has played prominent roles in several Malayalam films including Jacobinte Swargarajyam. Lakshmy has always taken strong positions outside the film as well.
