PAYYANNUR: Renowned film, serial, and drama actor and director, and Sangeetha Nataka Academy Award winner V.P. Ramachandran (81) passed away on Wednesday. He breathed his last at his residence in Payyannur. He had been undergoing treatment for kidney-related ailments for a long time. The funeral will take place on Thursday at 9 am at Mahadeva Gramam Smrithi.
VP Ramachandran, who was the brother of the world-famous dancer Padma Bhushan VP Dhananjayan, was a familiar face in Malayalam serials. He acted in over 18 films, including Kilipattu, Appu, Iyyer The Great, Police Officer, Kathanaayika, Sadayam, Yuvathurki, Pazhashiraja, and many more. He also dubbed for several films. He had worked at the American Consulate and the Air Force.
