SRINAGAR: Two soldiers were killed in a fierce encounter that broke out between security forces and terrorists in Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. The encounter took place in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district. A joint team of the army and Jammu and Kashmir police was conducting a search operation at the site when the terrorists opened fire at them. This led to the encounter. Two personnel were injured in the incident.
The firing began after the police and security forces started a search operation based on a tip-off that terrorists were hiding in Chatroo in Kishtwar. The White Knight Corps reported that the encounter is continuing in the night.
The encounter in Kishtwar broke out just a few days after the army killed two terrorists in Udhampur. Tight security has been put in place in residential areas and polling stations om Kashmir. Voting is scheduled to take place in these districts of Kashmir on September 18.
