THRISSUR: Excise Department seized a total of 14,883 liters of spirit from two pickup vans and a fodder godown in Thrissur. The first seizure occurred when a pickup van was intercepted suspiciously at Ollukara, Thrissur. Upon inspection, the excise team found 1,320 liters of spirit stored in 40 containers. The operation was led by Thrissur Range Excise Inspector Sajeesh Kumar, with the support of Assistant Excise Inspectors KC Ananthan and TG Mohanan, as well as Preventive Officers Mujeeb Rahman and Lathif and Civil Excise Officers Irshad, Taufiq, Bineesh Tomi and Arun Kumar.
Acting on instructions from Thrissur Deputy Excise Commissioner C. Sunu, another team from the Thrissur Excise Circle Office, led by Excise Circle Inspector T. Ashok Kumar, conducted a raid at a fodder godown in Chemputhra. The team seized 13,563 liters of spirit, including 330 liters from a pickup van parked at the location and 13,233 liters stored in 401 containers inside the godown. A case has been registered against Joji, who had rented the godown and his assistant Joshi.
The operation involved multiple officers, including IB Officers Excise Inspector AB Prasad, Assistant Excise Inspectors Maraya Lonappan KJ, Sunilkumar PR, VM Jabbar and Nelson MR. Other members of the team included Excise Inspector Satheesh Kumar, Assistant Excise Inspectors Radhakrishnan NB and Ajayakumar C, Preventive Officer Suresh NG and Civil Excise Officers Sineesh VN and Ajeesh ER.
