Stormed into house and hacked youth, escaped with wife by swimming across river; dramatic events unfold in Alappuzha

ALAPPUZHA: In a dramatic incident, a man stormed into a house and hacked a youth before fleeing with his estranged wife. The incident took place in Ramankari in Alappuzha.

The injured youth has been identified as Vezhapra native Baiju. He sustained a serious injury. He was attacked by a man named Subin. Following a quarrel with Subin, Subin's wife had been staying with Baiju for the past few days. The woman started living with Baiju just a few days before Onam. Baiju's house is located on an island surrounded by water on all sides. Subin reached Baiju's house swimming around 2 am. He then attacked Baiju using a machete that was lying there.

Baiju sustained injuries on his neck and abdomen. After Baiju fell unconscious following the injury, Subin escaped with his wife by swimming across the river. After a considerable time, Baiju regained consciousness and informed his friends about the attack. By the time they arrived, Baiju was drenched in blood and severely weakened. Hospital sources said that Baiju is recovering and his condition is stable.

The police are trying to find Subin and the woman. Officers said that they have intensified the investigation and will arrest the two very soon.
