Man reaches home for daughter’s wedding, both killed in accident while going home from airport

ALAPPUZHA: A man and his daughter were killed after the Innova car in which they were travelling hit the back of a lorry parked on the national highway. The dead has been identified as Sathar of Vallikunnam and his daughter Alia (20). The accident happened on K V Jetty Junction at Haripad in Alappuzha.

Sathar, who was abroad reached home for his daughter Alia's wedding. The accident happened while he was going home from the airport. It is believed that the driver may have dosed off leading to the accident. The car has been almost destroyed in the accident. The locals led the rescue operations. Though they were taken out from the vehicle and taken to the hospital, their lives could not be saved.

Meantime, two youths died in an accident in Thrissur. The scooter in which the two were travelling collided with a container lorry near Triprayar Centre. The accident happened Thursday morning at 2 am near V B Mall at Chavakkad Kodungallur national highway 66. The dead have been identified as Asheervad of Kothakulam Beach, Valappad, and Hashim of Valappad Malakha Valavu. Another youth who was with them was admitted to the hospital with injuries.

The locals and police led the rescue operations. The youths were rushed to the hospital but their lives could not be saved. It is not clear what led to the accident.
