Surendran was always suspicious of his wife; surrendered at police station after informing his daughter-in-law about murder

KOLLAM: Police have revealed more details about the gruesome murder of a 60-year-old woman by her husband in Kottarakkara. According to the police, Pallikkal native Saraswathi Amma was hacked to death by her husband Surendran Pillai over suspicion of an extramarital affair. After committing the murder, the accused went to the police station in an autorickshaw and surrendered before the police. He went to the police station after informing his elder daughter-in-law of the matter on the phone. The accused strangled Saraswathi Amma's neck with a rope and then hacked her using a machete.

Meanwhile, neighbours said that Surendran Pillai was always suspicious of his wife. He used to come home drunk every day and torture Saraswathi Amma. Locals said that the accused had previously threatened to kill his wife. Both Surendran and Saraswathi Amma are tailors.
