Amrita Suresh has broken her silence following serious allegations made against her ex-husband Bala. The controversy erupted when Bala’s daughter accused him of harassing her and her mother while intoxicated, even going so far as to allegedly attempt to throw a glass bottle at her. This incident sparked a flood of criticism toward Amrita, with some accusing her of influencing her daughter’s actions.
In response, Amrita took to social media, sharing an emotional video on Facebook. She expressed the immense challenges she is facing and clarified her stance on the issue.
Amrita began by acknowledging the scrutiny she has faced since she was sixteen. “People have known me for years. I’m not blaming anyone because I’ve been silent for so long. The truth remains hidden from many,” she said, clearly emotional.
She revealed that her 12-year-old daughter had questioned her silence. For her recent birthday, the young girl independently decided to create a video to tell her side of the story, a decision Amrita claims she was unaware of. “She was upset and wanted people to know that her mother wasn’t at fault but after that, the backlash started, with people accusing me of brainwashing her,” Amrita explained.
Addressing the accusations that she had manipulated her daughter, Amrita denied the claims, pointing out that her daughter had witnessed troubling events from a very young age. “People say she is brainwashed but how can that be? The child was dragged away from court in front of hundreds of people. She shared what she had seen since the age of three. Think about it – don’t we all remember shocking moments from our childhood? I can recall things from when I was two, though not the full picture, just flashes,” she said.
Amrita recounted the emotional trauma her daughter faced at school, with one classmate even taunting her by claiming her father called her mother “ugly.” She emphasized the toll this situation has taken on her daughter, adding, “When you remain silent, the crimes keep happening.”
Amrita then spoke about her marriage to Bala, which began when she fell in love at 18. She revealed that her family had been unaware that Bala had previously been married to a woman named Chandana Sadasiva Reddiar, a fact they only discovered after the engagement. Despite this, she continued with the relationship because of her deep affection for Bala.
However, things took a dark turn and Amrita found herself physically and emotionally broken. “I was bleeding and in pain for days, unable to even tell my family what I was going through because they had opposed the marriage,” she recounted. Eventually, she fled the house, leaving behind most of her belongings, including her gold and her car.
“I didn’t take crores and run away as people say. My life and my daughter’s life were in ruins. I asked for damages, like in any divorce case, but when I saw how traumatized my daughter was, I withdrew from the case. I just wanted to ensure she wouldn’t be harmed,” Amrita said, adding that she forfeited any claim to financial compensation or property in the settlement.
Amrita also disclosed that she is still recovering from the physical abuse she endured, with scars, surgeries, and ongoing treatment for chest pain. She explained that her focus now is on rebuilding her life, taking care of her mother, who has high blood pressure and providing a stable home for her daughter.
After a 14-year gap, Amrita entered another relationship, which ultimately did not work out. She concluded her statement by saying, “Everyone enters relationships with the hope that they will succeed. Unfortunately, this one didn’t but we parted amicably.”
