Governor Arif Mohammed Khan’s shawl catches fire; major tragedy averted

PALAKKAD: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan's shawl caught fire. The incident happened during a function organised at Sabari Ashram at Akathethara in Palakkad. Seeing the fire, security officials immediately doused the flames. So, a major tragedy has been averted. The governor escaped without sustaining any injuries.

During the function at the ashram, while bending down to offer flowers to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, the fire spread from the lamp that was lit, to his shawl that was around his neck. The people nearby immediately noticed the fire and doused it. They quickly removed the shawl from his neck. The governor knew about it only then. He was cool and attended the function that followed.
