MUMBAI: Maharashtra Deputy Speaker and a BJP MP jumps from the third floor of a building during a protest. The deputy speaker, an MP and three MLAs jumped from the third floor of the Maharashtra secretariat.
NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal, BJP MP Hemant Savra and MLAs Kiran Lahamate of the NCP, Rajesh Patil of the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA), Hiraman Khoskar of Congress were the ones who jumped off the building. They fell into a security net previously placed by the fire force in the building in the wake of the protests. It is learnt that no one was injured in the incident.
Visuals of the deputy speaker and other people's representatives jumping out of the building are being circulated on social media. In the video, they can be seen climbing back after falling into the safety net. They jumped from the top as part of a protest against the inclusion of the Dhangar community, currently classified under Other Backward Classes (OBC), in the Scheduled Tribe reserved category.
