THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary MV Govindan said that attacks are taking place against the leadership at a time when the party and the government are doing well. MV Govindan said the allegations against the chief minister were part of the campaign for the same. "The propaganda of RSS affiliation is part of it. The right-wing media is also helping in this," he alleged.

"The chief minister has a good place among the secular sections and among the minorities. Attempts are being made to eliminate this. There is propaganda that it was the LDF that set the stage for the BJP's victory in Thrissur. However, in Thrissur, the main reason for the BJP victory was that they got the UDF vote, which fell by 86,000. We did lose some of the votes we were supposed to get. It was the Christian vote of the Congress that was lost. They have investigated it and found this. Only the report is not being released," Govindan said.

"No immediate action can be taken if there are allegations against the officials. However, strict action will be taken if he is found guilty. Gold smuggling is becoming a law and order problem. The police cannot stop intervening in such a situation. That is the task that the police performed. It is against this that Anwar is declaring a crusade," Govindan pointed out.
