KOLLAM: SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan said that the situation is such that the gurus are afraid of children and this should change. He was inaugurating the Guru Sangamam organised by the Sree Narayana Guru Employees Council to felicitate the alumni of Sree Narayana Institutions in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts.
"The new generation does not see teachers as Gods. Children don't understand that teachers punish them for good. Guru is light. Not understanding this is the reason why a section of the new generation is going astray. All the good aspects of me, I have received from my teachers. I would have got two more caning from home if I told them that the teachers punished me. I will stick to what I think is right. For that, I had reached even the brink of death."
"You must love the one who has nothing. The greatest service to God is to give to the one who does not have it. God is not hungry. It is the devotees who are hungry. As Kanichukulangara temple president, I was able to bring a new culture. The wealth of the temple was utilized for the growth and upliftment of the people there. Assistance was provided for education and marriage. However, baseless allegations are being levelled against me, including in the functioning of Yogam. I have no selfish interests. I have only community interest and society interest. I quit my job to work for Yogam. The community is not getting educational and political justice. In seven districts, the SNDP Yogam and the Trust do not have educational institutions. Others are gaining everything through vote bank politics by mobilizing community power."
SNDP Yogam councillor P Sundaran presided over the function. Alumni teachers and their family members who have achieved achievements were also felicitated. Former minister G Sudhakaran delivered the keynote address. Sree Narayana Guru Employees Council State Co-ordinator P.P. Rajimon delivered the organizational message. Kollam SCRC chairperson Dr S Sheeba spoke. Council state president Dr S Vishnu gave the welcome speech and state secretary Dr RV Sumesh gave the vote of thanks.
